The Hermitage was founded by empress Catherine the Great in 1764.
Itinerary
The second largest (after the Louvre in Paris) and one of most significant art and cultural historical museums in the world. The museum is located in the center of St. Petersburg in the complex of the Winter Palace which itself is a piece of art. For a long time the Winter palace was the residency of the royal family.
