Saint-Petersburg is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It is situated on over 200 islands which are crossed by numerous rivers and cannels, that’s why the city is also called the Northern Venice. In the 18-th century the best European architects were invited to build the capital of the newborn Russian empire. Feel the breath of the time admiring the numerous palaces and cathedrals, embankments and amazing bridges.
Walk along the Palace Square and admire the former royal residency – the Winter Palace – the witness of 3 revolutions in the 20-th century.
Peter and Paul Fortress – fortified island and the place from which the city started growing.
The Bronze Horseman – one of the symbols of the city – the monument which is dedicated to the founder of the city Peter the Great.
Visit the Kazan Сathedral of Mother of God one of the largest cathedrals in St.Petersburg which was opened in 1811. During the soviet period when the communists banned religions, the building hosted the Museum of the History of Religion and Atheism and only in 1991 it became a functioning cathedral again.
